Happy Living | Blog | Matt Gersper“A house must be built on solid foundations if it is to last. The same principle applies to man, otherwise, he too will sink back into the soft ground and be swallowed up by the world of illusion.”
(Sai Baba)

I created the Foundations of Happy as a discipline to focus our research and writing at Happy Living. These principles are not necessarily intended as advice for what you should do in your own life; rather, it’s our intention to share with you, my dear reader, both what we at Happy Living are doing to improve our own health and wellness and the results we’re getting, in hopes that you will be inspired to develop foundations for your health in whatever way feels right for you.

Here’s what the Foundations of Happy do for me:

  • Continuously developing my physical fitness, mental fitness, spiritual fitness, and financial fitness creates within me the capacity or power I need to take care of myself and my family and still have plenty left over to give to others.
  • My philosophies of love and adventure inspire me to discover purpose; my distinct and unique reason for being on this planet.
  • And significance—well, significance is about reshaping my life so that I spend more and more time doing things I want to do and less and less time doing things I have to do. It was as I started getting into the ‘doing what I want to do’ stage of my life that I began developing my philosophy of significance, and now, using that philosophy, I am able to take care of my ‘have to dos’ with much more ease and much less time so that I can indeed focus on the things that are most significant to me and bring the most joy into my life.

I believe that each of us is here on Earth to become all we are capable of becoming and to develop the gifts we have been given so that we may give to others, lifting them up and helping them to become all they are capable of becoming with the gifts they have been given.[1] The foundations of happy support me in fulfilling this purpose. My hope is that whether or not my specific foundations of happy resonate with you, you’ll be inspired to develop unique foundations of happy for your own life that will serve your health and well-being.
