I love my work at Happy Living!

For the last year and a half, I have been preparing an agenda and leading thought-provoking discussions with Privately Inspired People twice a month. This invitation-only group provides an environment full of ideas, encouragement, and support to help one another take inspired action to live our one wild and precious life to its fullest, because…

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

My Entire Life Is Based On A Miracle.

Our meeting on Thursday, July 11, 2024, focuses on real, genuine, can’t-explain-it-any-other-way miracles.

A few months ago, Libby Grier, the awesome executive producer of our Something Significant Show, suggested that I do a season-ending show highlighting some of the most significant things our incredible guest stars shared on the show.

As I thought about it, I suddenly heard Al Michaels in my head saying, “Do you believe in miracles?” It was from the 1980 Olympic Games in the final game and the final minute and final seconds when the American team made up of mostly college amateur athletes defeated the imposing, seemingly impossible-to-beat, professional Soviet Union team that nearly never lost Olympic gold! The game was played in Lake Placid, New York, and it came to be known as the “Miracle on Ice”

Do you believe in miracles?!

It was those five words that “somehow, maybe you’d say miraculously” came into my mind, and they led me to write a text message to a few of this season’s guest stars who had shared stories of inexplicable and improbable supernatural power unexpectedly moving in their lives.

One reply came quickly saying, “Man, I have no idea. It would be “miraculous” if I could even remember what we talked about.” He included a laughing emoji. Then, he added, “I am currently hoping for a miracle – that’s for sure!”  And next came something I was not expecting. He said, “I’m curious, have you ever experienced a “miracle” in your life?”

After giving his question a little thought, I replied, “Well, yeah. My entire life is based on a miracle.” What followed was nearly two months of work producing what I think is the most important body of work we’ve been involved with in my ten years of Happy Living, Something Significant #158, Do You Believe In Miracles? In this work, I discovered two amazing things; everyone’s entire life is based on a miracle, and our entire country is based on a miracle, too.

Our group will discuss these four consistent themes of supernatural, gift-from-God kind of miracles that changed the lives of my guest stars, and my own life, too.

1. Devastation

2. God speaking

3. Obedience

4. Transformation

ONE | Devastation. Amid the devastation, life can feel overwhelming and unbearable. But devastation does serve a purpose. Walking through the valleys of devastation and suffering through the vicious and destructive storms of life can bring a person to their knees and open their ears to hear into the supernatural realm of God.

My book, Turning Inspiration Into Action, explored this very same issue, although in a secular way. In the book, I explored the question, “Must we find our purpose through devastation… or can we find it through inspiration?”

Herman Mendoza said something similar in his interview. He said, “Oh my Gosh! Why did I have to go through all the storms in life when I could have just gone to the Cross? He said, “God was probably calling me as a child, but I wasn’t ready to listen until that faithful day in that Federal Prison when I fell on my knees and opened my ears to finally hear God speaking to me.”

In my book, I write how I chose the path of inspiration to find my purpose. Now, in our walk with God–all my guest stars, and me, too—we are all learning to avoid the suffering of devastation by going right to the inspiration of the Cross!

TWO | God speaking. The word of God can take many shapes. Well, I guess the word of God can take any shape He wants it to. From dreams and gut feelings, and direct commands and Bible verses, warnings and downloads, God winks and tugs, brotherly prayers, and chance meetings, rainbows and taps, little dogs and small whispers, fallen soldiers and mind flashes, and even those little floaty things in hot tubs (when you watch the video, this will make sense). The word of God comes in any form, shape, size, and vessel He chooses. It can come at any time, and it can come anywhere and everywhere. It can be big and loud or small and quiet. That’s why we must remain alert, at all times!… so we don’t miss it when He speaks to us!

THREE | Obedience. YES! We need to listen when God speaks to us. But the miracles happen in the obedience stage. Listen as my guest stars share how through obedience to God’s word, they were transformed into the fully optimized person He means for them to be. Living a life that’s focused on serving others by utilizing the gifts and second chances that God has given them.

FOUR | Transformation. Larry Randolph said,  “I walk out of there on cloud nine!” Laura Stewart exclaimed, “Everything is a miracle.” Zachariah Fike shared that he feels like he’s living a miracle. That’s what happens when you are transformed into the fully optimized person you are meant to be. And, that’s what our work here in this group is all about, Privately Inspired People transforming their lives into the inspired life of significance they are meant to live.

“Until one is committed (for our conversation we could say ‘obedient’), So, Until one is obedient, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence (God) moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen (and I would say, supernatural) incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.”

Johann Wolfgang Goethe

“But by the All-Powerful Dispensations of Providence, I have been protected beyond all human probability or expectation; for I had four bullets through my coat, and two horses shot under me, yet escaped unhurt, although death was leveling my companions on every side of me.”

George Washington

“We have abundant reasons to thank Providence for its many favorable interpositions in our behalf. It has at times been my only dependence, for all other resources seemed to have failed us.”
