One Goal
I recently signed up for the St. Jude 100 Pushups A Day Challenge to kick off the New Year.
Then, as I started thinking about how much money I’d love to raise for the kids, a charitably-minded experiment came to my mind. Like many innovative ideas that I’ve had in my life, it’s a mash-up. In this case, I am interested in mashing-up six powerful forces in the service of one unified charitable goal: raising a great, big pile of money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

ONE | A network of like-minded people. In addition to our beloved Happy Living community, the network of like-minded people I’m calling on for support is the 12.5K+ members of the 100 Pushups a Day in January private Facebook group and every person around the globe who supports St. Jude’s mission to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. TWO | Communication tools with global reach. The personal communication tools we’ll employ are found on the cellphones and computers of virtually every member of the 100 Pushups a Day in January group, every supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, plus everyone in our Happy Living community, and anyone else who happens to read this post or posts on social media about this post. THREE | The ask. SIX | The Power of LOVE. The final part of this mash-up is the infinite part that Rumi speaks of. If we get just a little love from our powerful network of like-minded folks, we’ll likely get a few donations, sell a few books, and raise a few bucks. But just imagine if a whole bunch of love is poured throughout our worldwide network and thousands of people within the tribe make a donation, buy some books, and then go on and share the love within their networks… asking their friends and family to donate, buy some books and to share the love again throughout their networks. Imagine that reach. Imagine that power!
