“If we all do one random act of kindness daily we just might set the world in the right direction.”
(Martin Kornfeld)

Our goal here at Happy Living is to raise $6,000 for Make-A-Wish this year. That’s just enough to grant the wish of one child with life-threatening medical conditions, and we need your help our dear readers. In this edition of Happy Living Loves Make-A-Wish, we invite you to join us in celebrating World Wish Day this year, on April 29.

Today’s video features Chris, a seven-year-old boy who died from Leukemia in 1980.

Thirty-six years ago, when Chris said, “I wish I could be a motorcycle officer,” the seed for Make-A-Wish was planted. A U.S. Customs Agent rallied a small group of officers from the Arizona Department of Safety to make that wish come true for Chris. With the approval of their director, the officers gave Chris a ride in a department helicopter, met him at the landed with motorcycle officers (like those he watched on the TV series CHiPs), swore him in as an official policeman and even gave him a badge.

Helping Chris’ wish come true created the model for Make-A-Wish that still exists today with over 350,000 wishes granted to children all over the world. This incredible and altruistic organization all started with the wish of one little boy.

You can help celebrate World Wish Day by supporting and helping wishes to come true for Wish Kids all around the globe.

Pay it forward.[1] Please give what you can, when you can. As you know, every little bit helps give the Wish Kids the courage to fight on.

With love and gratitude,

Special thanks and appreciation to all those who selflessly worked together to help the dream of one little boy come true… thirty-six years ago!

[1] Pay it forward is an expression for describing the beneficiary of a good deed repaying it to others instead of to the original benefactor.
