I love my work at Happy Living!

Twice a month, for the last seven and a half months, I’ve been preparing an agenda and leading a discussion with Privately Inspired People. This is an invitation-only group that we created to provide an environment full of ideas, encouragement, and support to help one another take inspired action to live our one wild and precious life to its fullest, because…

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

FILLING YOUR CUP

The focus of our meeting on Thursday, June 22, 2023, is preparing ourselves to be resilient and strong through the inevitable obstacles, adversity, and tough times that life serves up.

We’ll spend our time together discussing three aspects of Filling Your Cup.

  1. Clean Inside First
  2. Fill With Goodness
  3. Give From Overflow

1️⃣ Clean Inside First. Who would want to drink from a cup that was washed on the outside but was still filthy inside? The idea here comes from a scolding that Jesus gave the Pharisees in Matthew Chapter 22 for being hypocrites. The Pharisees lived their lives as if external appearances were more important than internal reality. Jesus said though outwardly the Pharisees appeared righteous to men, inside they were full of hypocrisy and filth. So, to build resilience and strength to weather the storms of life, begin with cleaning the inside of your cup. #BeAuthentic #Genuine

2️⃣ Fill With Goodness. A few weeks ago, I stumbled into a brilliant concept that said when life comes along and shakes you (which will happen), whatever is inside you will come out. When your life gets tough, what spills out of you? Is it joy and peace, or love and acceptance, or trust and willingness, or a big measure of humility? Or is it fear and anger, grief and apathy, or bitterness and harsh words, or other ugly reactions that come out of you? The choice is yours! So, build resilience and strength to weather the storms of life by continuously filling your cup with goodness. #GoodChoices #SelfCare

3️⃣ Give From Overflow. I believe we are here to become all we are capable of becoming with the gifts we are given so that we are able to give to others, lift them, and help them become all they are capable of becoming with the gifts they are given. In other words, we are here to clean the inside of our cup (and keep it clean). And to fill our cup chock-full of goodness (and keep filling it until it’s overflowing). And then, to give from the overflow by sharing with others. #Giving #Resilience #HappyLiving

In preparation for our meetings, I generally recommend that each member ponders over a quote or two and does a little bit of light homework (reading a blog post or two and sometimes viewing a video, too). This is the prep work for our June 22, 2023 meeting. 🌈✨

PONDERABLES

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.”

Matthew 23:25-27

“You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you, making you spill your coffee everywhere. Why did you spill the coffee? You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea. The point is whatever is inside the cup, is what will spill out. Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which will happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It’s easy to fake it, until you get rattled. So, we have to ask ourselves, “what’s in my cup?” When life gets tough, what spills out? … You choose!”
